Dr. Broder was the winner of the EMF/GE Research Challenge and was awarded $200,000. He will work on his project titled "3D Augmented Ultrasound for Identification of Abdominal/Pelvic Traumatic Hemorrhagic Shock" at Duke University School of Medicine.

Dr. Blank was a finalist in the EMF/GE Research Challenge and was awarded $50,000. He will work on his project titled, "The Description of Lung Ultrasound from Initial Neonatal Transition in Extremely Preterm Infants" at The Royal Women's Hospital and Monash University, Australia.

Dr. Favot was a finalist in the EMF/GE Research Challenge and was awarded $50,000. He will work on his project titled "The Impact of Noninvasive Positive Pressure Ventilation on Left Ventricular Strain in Acute HF" at Wayne State University.

Dr. Liteplo was a finalist in the EMF/GE Research Challenge and was awarded $50,000. He will work on his project titled "Carotid Ultrasound in Sepsis and Hypotension (CUSH)" at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Burke was named the EMF/EMAF Health Policy Research Scholar and was awarded $200,000 over two years. She will work on her project titled "Measuring Quality of Emergency Care: Do Process Measures Correlate with Patient Outcomes?" at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Dr. Mould-Millman was awarded the EMF Research Fellowship grant for $150,000 over two years. He will work on his project titled "Implementation of a Novel Prehospital Shock Care Intervention in a Resource Constrained African Setting" at University of Colorado, School of Medicine.

Dr. Walker was awarded the EMF Patient Centered Outcome Research Grant for $100,000 over two years. She will work on her project titled "Shared Decision Making to Improve Goals of Care Discussions in Elderly Emergency Department Patients" at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Weissman was awarded the EMF Career Development Grant for $50,000. She will work on her project titled "Diagnostic Tool Development to Improve Pneumonia Detection in Post Cardiac Arrest Syndrome" at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Chisolm-Straker was awarded an Career Development Grant for $50,000. She will work on her project titled "Clinical Detection of Human Trafficking in the Emergency Department: A Tool Validation Study" at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. McNaughton was awarded an EMF/HFSA Novartis Heart Failure Young Investigator Mentored Grant for $80,000. She will work on her project titled "Biochemical assessment of medication adherence among patients with heart failure in clinic and the emergency department" at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Green was awarded an EMF/HFSA Novartis Heart Failure Young Investigator Mentored Grant for $80,000. He will work on his project titled "Comparison of Dyspnea Measurement Instruments in Acute Heart Failure" at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Zachrison was awarded an EMF Health Policy Research Grant for $49,955. She will work on her project titled "A national study of telemedicine use in US Emergency Departments: understanding barriers to implementation" at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School

Dr. Hinson was awarded an EMF Pilot Project Grant for $50,000. He will work on his project titled "Reducing Harm from Acute Kidney Injury through Predictive Modeling and Data-Driven Clinical Decision Support" at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Hawk was awarded an EMF Pilot Project Grant for $49,998. She will work on her project titled "Developing an Emergency Department Based Intervention to Prevent Opioid Overdose: Listening to Patient Voices" at Yale University.

Dr. Limkakeng was awarded an EMF Pilot Project Grant for $49,959. He will work on his project titled "MicroRNAs to Identify Myocardial Ischemia During Stress Testing In The Emergency Department" at Duke University.

Dr. Ouchi was awarded an EMF/SAEM GEMSSTAR Grant Award for $12,500 over two years. He will work on his project titled "Identifying and Empowering Older Adults with Serious Illness to Formulate their Goals for Medical Care in the Emergency Department" at Harvard Brigham and Women’s.

Dr. Haran was awarded an EMF/SAEM GEMSSTAR Grant Award for $12,500 over two years. He will work on his project titled "Study of the Intestinal Microbiome, Antimicrobial Use, and Clostridium difficile Infections in Long-term Care Facility Residents" at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Dr. Goldberg was awarded an EMF/SAEM GEMSSTAR Grant Award for $12,500 over two years. She will work on her project titled "GAPcare: The Geriatric Acute & Post-acute Care Coordination Program for Fall Prevention in the Emergency Department" at Brown/Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Hiller was awarded an EMF/CORD Education Research Grant for $25,000. She will work on her project titled "A multi-institutional online database for implementation and validation of the National Clinical Assessment Tool for Emergency Medicine: a consensus-derived tool for clinical assessment of medical students in Emergency Medicine" at The University of Arizona.

Dr. Chung was awarded an EMF/CORD Education Research Grant for $24,999. She will work on her project titled "Using a Clinical Dashboard to Empower Resident Education: Does Incorporating Objective Feedback into Semi-Annual Evaluations Improve Insight and Impact Clinical Behaviors Among Residents?" at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Alwasiyah was awarded an EMF/Medical Toxicology Foundation Research Grant for $9,868. She will work on her project titled "Urinary Gadolinium Levels: A Possible Indicator of Long-Term Retention after Contrast Enhanced MRIs" at Carolinas Medical Center.

Dr. Cronin was awarded an EMF/SEMPA Team Grant, along with Dr. Michael Perreault for $20,000. They will work on their project titled "Accuracy of Physician Assistants in Diagnosing Lower Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis after Focused Ultrasound Training" at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Madigan Army Medical Center.

Dr. Perreault was awarded an EMF/SEMPA Team Grant, along with Dr. Aaron Cronin for $20,000. They will work on their project titled "Accuracy of Physician Assistants in Diagnosing Lower Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis after Focused Ultrasound Training" at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Madigan Army Medical Center.

Dr. Chary was awarded an EMF/NIDA Mentored Training Award in Substance Use Disorders Science Dissemination Grant for $11,840. He will work on his project titled "Using Artificial Intelligence to Synthesize and Disseminate Substance Use Disorder Research" at New York Presbyterian-Queens.

Dr. Marino was awarded an EMF/NIDA Mentored Training Award in Substance Use Disorders Science Dissemination Grant for $12,000. He will work on his project titled "Increasing Utilization of Take Home Naloxone Program for At-Risk Emergency Department Patients using Computerized Clinical Decision Support" at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Baehr was awarded an EMF/EMRA Quality Improvement/Delivery Innovation Resident Research Grant in Substance Use Disorders Science Dissemination Grant for $10,000. She will work on her project titled "Quality of emergency care provided by hospital-affiliated freestanding emergency departments" at Denver Health Medical Center.

Dr. Singh was awarded an EMF/EMRA Quality Improvement/Delivery Innovation Resident Research Grant in Substance Use Disorders Science Dissemination Grant for $10,000. She will work on her project titled "Time-interrupted Quality Improvement Interventions to Improve the Timeliness of Pain Medication Delivery for Acute Fractures in the Emergency Department" at Yale-New Haven Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Buck was awarded an EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $9,920. She will work on her project titled "Older Adult Emergency Department Patients with Dyspnea: Epidemiology and Improved Diagnostic Strategies" at Ohio State University.

Dr. Valdovinos was awarded an EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $9,994. She will work on her project titled "The Impact of the Affordable Care Act and the Expansion of Medicaid on Racial Disparities in Coronary Reperfusion after Acute Myocardial Infarction" at Alameda Health System Highland Hospital.

Dr. Janke was awarded an EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $6,658. He will work on his project titled "Effect of State Medicaid Expansion Programs and Patient Insurance Status on Hospital Admission Rates and Chest Pain Testing Utilization" at Wayne State University.

Dr. Zogg was awarded an EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000. She will work on her project titled "Understanding Emergency Medicine Providers' Perceptions of the ACA in a Renewed Era of Healthcare Reform: National Survey and Qualitative Mixed-Methods Approach" at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Lu was awarded an EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant, along with Dr. Meredith Adamo for $5,000. They will work on their project titled Understanding High Utilization of the Emergency Department: An Interview Study" at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Adamo was awarded an EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant, along with Dr. Alicia Lu for $5,000. They will work on their project titled Understanding High Utilization of the Emergency Department: An Interview Study" at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Carlson was awarded an EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000. She will work on her project titled "Cerebral Oximetry Monitoring Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy During Adult Procedural Sedation: A Pilot Study" at Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation.

Dr. Chhabra was awarded an EMF Emergency Medicine Basic Research Skills Grant for $5,000. He will work on his project titled "Adjunctive 5% lidocaine patches in the treatment of acute non-radicular low back pain in patients discharged from the emergency department" at John H Stroger Jr Hospital of Cook County.
