Dr. Abbate was awarded the Early Career Research Development Grant for $150,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Weight Management and Exercise Prescription Program for Older Veterans with Knee Pain” at the University of Colorado/Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center.

Ms. Blackwood was awarded the EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled "Firearm Violence and Safety Training in Undergraduate Medical Education: Evaluation of First Year Clinical Skills Curricular Intervention" at Brown University.

Dr. Blanchard, of George Washington University, was awarded $38,777 for her project titled "An Evaluation of Stressors related to COVID-19 In Emergency Medicine Physicians."

Ms. Burdick was awarded the EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled "Geographic and Temporal Analysis of Pediatric Trauma Access Disparities in the United States" at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Cardell was awarded the EMF/CORD Emergency Medicine Education Research Grant for $25,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Building a Smart Airway Trainer: A Patient Specific 3D Printed Intubation Simulator with Embedded Force Sensors" at the Maimonides Medical Center.

Dr. Cash was awarded the EMF/NAEMSP EMS Research Grant for $5,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Epidemiology of Prehospital Obstetric Emergencies in the United States" at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Comstock was awarded the EMF/NIDA Mentored Training Awards in Substance Use Disorders Grant for $11,922 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Defining and Addressing Barriers to Buprenorphine Prescribing in Emergency” at the University of Colorado/Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center.

Dr. Coute was awarded the EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $10,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Disability-adjusted Life Years Due to In-hospital Cardiac Arrest in the United States” at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Faryar was awarded the EMF/EMBRS Research Grant for $9,949 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Assessment and Referral in the Emergency Department (PrEPARED)” at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Fields was awarded the HKS Research Grant for $40,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Use of high fidelity virtual reality modeling to identify and improve design flaws associated with physician burnout in an academic Emergency Department setting” at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Friedman was awarded the EMF Pilot Research Grant for $50,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Assessing the Impact of Urgent Care Clinics on Emergency Departments” at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Gordia was awarded the EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Comparison of the effects of a bromelain and collagenase based enzymatic agent on inflammation and eschar debridement in a partial thickness porcine model” at Stony Brook University.

Dr. Haasz was awarded the EMF/AFFIRM/ENAF Firearm Injury Prevention Research Grant for $75,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Safety Education in the Emergency Department (SEED): A Pilot Study” at the University of Colorado, Children's Hospital Colorado.

Mr. Helfer was awarded the EMF/SAEMF Medical Student Research Grant for $5,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Risk Prediction of Acute Coronary Lesions Following Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest” at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hoff was awarded the EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $10,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Shame and Error in EMS: A Qualitative Analysis of Culture and Attitudes in Prehospital Emergency Care” at Duke University Hospital.

Dr. Husain (pictured) and Dr. Daniel Hindman, of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, were awarded $24,920 for their project titled "Pediatric Patient Characteristics and Their Associations with Screening, Receipt of COVID-19 Testing and Management within the Johns Hopkins Health System Enterprise."

Dr. Janke was awarded the EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $10,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Trends in Complexity and Resource Utilization of Treat-and-Release ED Visits in the US, 2006-2018” at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Kelly was awarded the EMF/NIDA Mentored Training Awards in Substance Use Disorders Grant for $11,985 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Harm Reduction in the Emergency Department – Equipping Emergency” at Icahn Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Malone was awarded the EMF/CORD Emergency Medicine Education Starter Grant for $10,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Virtual Reality Simulation to Assess EPA 10 in Fourth Year Medical Students” at Ohio State University.

Dr. Mosier was awarded the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Directed Grant for $180,000 over two years. He will work on his project titled “Early High Flow Nasal Insufflation for the Treatment of Patients with Acute Respiratory Failure” at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Purakal, of Duke University - Division of Emergency Medicine, was awarded $50,000 for his project titled "Social Determinants of Health and COVID-19 Infection in North Carolina: A Geospatial and Qualitative Analysis."

Dr. Ramsey was awarded the Washington State Medical Association Directed Grant for $15,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Better Prescribing, Better Treatment: Innovation to Improve Opioid Prescribing Patterns for Acute Pain” at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Rider was awarded the EMF/CORD Emergency Medicine Education Starter Grant for $10,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Team performance: a mixed-methods analysis using interprofessional in situ simulation in the emergency department” at Stanford University.

Dr. Serina was awarded the EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant for $10,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Development and validation of the Admission for Geriatric patients in the Emergency Department (AGED)” at Northwestern University.

Dr. Stolz was awarded the EMF/CORD Emergency Medicine Education Research Grant for $25,000 over one year. She will work on her project titled “Climbing the Learning Curve for First Trimester Pregnancy Bedside Ultrasound Image Interpretation” at UC Health, University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Teran, of the University of Pennsylvania, was awarded $50,000 for his project titled "Prognostic Value of Point of Care Cardiac and Lung Ultrasound in COVID-19–CLUSCO Study."

Dr. Theodoro was awarded the EMF/Fujifilm Sonosite COVID-19 Research Grant for $90,000 over one year. He will work on his project titled “Artificial Intelligence for Prognosis of Ultrasound of the Lung in COVID (AI PULL)” at Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tsze was awarded the EMF Mid-Career Research Development Grant for $250,000 over two years. He will work on his project titled “Dose-Finding Study of Intranasal Midazolam for Procedural Sedation in Children” at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
