2010-2011 EMF Research Program Overview

EMF Grants

EMF Research Fellowship Grant - $150,000

Over a two year period, EMF Research Fellow stipends are available to institutions that possess the facilities for clinical or basic science research and are staffed with experienced investigators necessary to promote the academic growth of the research fellow. Awards are made with the stipulation that they are to be used only as salary support for the EMF Research Fellow.

 

EMF Career Development Grant - $50,000

Awarded to emergency medicine faculty at the instructor or assistant professor level to fund seed money or release time to begin a promising research project.

 

EMF Health Policy Research Grant - $50,000

Awarded for a one or two year period to researchers in the health policy or health services area to conduct research on critical health policy issues in emergency medicine.

Co-Sponsored Grants

EMF/EMRA Resident Research Grant - $5,000

This grant program is co-funded by the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA). It awards a maximum of $5,000.

 

EMF/ENAF Team Grant - $50,000

This grant program is co-funded by the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation (ENAF). It specifically targets research that is designed to investigate the topic of ED crowding.  Proposals may focus on a number of related areas, including: definitions and outcome measures of ED crowding, causes and effects of ED crowding, and potential solutions to the problem of ED crowding. The applicants must provide evidence of a true collaborative effort between physician and nurse professionals and must delineate the relative roles of the participants in terms of protocol development, data collection, and manuscript preparation. Applications may be enhanced by inclusion of appropriate hospital administrative leaders.

  

EMF/SAEM Medical Student Research Grant - $2,400

This grant program is co-funded by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM). A maximum of $2,400 over 3 months is available to a medical student to foster research in emergency medicine.

February 1, 2010 Deadline

EMF/The Century Council Binge Drinking Grant-$100,000

This directed research grant is funded by The Century Council.The goal of the grant is to gain a better understanding of those young people (college students) who present to emergency facilities due to alcohol related incidents or with medical/psychiatric conditions exacerbated by their dangerous over consumption of alcohol.
