Bio: Dr. Schneider is professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She also is past chair of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, an organization whose mission is to foster emergency medicine's academic environment in research, education, and health policy.

Dr. Schneider graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1975 and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in 1978. After completing a tour of duty with the National Health Service Corps in Hazard, Kentucky, she returned to the University of Pittsburgh to direct emergency services at Montefiore Hospital. In 1993 she was selected to be the first chair of the newly formed Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester.
