Bio: Dr. Keaton, of Akron, Ohio, was the first president-elect to be voted in office by ACEP's Council, following new guidelines from a Council resolution approved last year. A leader in medical informatics, Dr. Keaton has worked at the national and state levels to improve quality of patient care through improving technologies and developing effective patient medical records systems. He is an attending physician and director of Emergency Medical Informatics for the Department of Emergency Medicine, Summa Health System in Akron. He also is professor of clinical emergency medicine at Northeastern Ohio University's College of Medicine and core faculty for the Summa Health System Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Keaton was elected as a member of ACEP's Board of Directors in 2001. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Akron City Hospital (now Summa Health System) in 1982.
