Bio: Dr. Bishop is the President and CEO of Unity Physician Group. He has helped lead the physicians and staff of Unity since 1972.

Dr. Bishop is a charter member of ACEP, joining the College in 1972. He has been extremely active in emergency medicine, serving on the boards of ACEP and NEMPAC, as well as president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Bishop is a member of the Member Reimbursement Committee, Practice Improvement Task Force, and the Alternate to Ambulatory Care Professional and Technical Advisory Committee for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. He also serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine

Dr. Bishop's volunteer efforts with ACEP have revolved mostly around government affairs and reimbursement issues. He helped establish the College's Washington, DC, office, and has testified numerous times to Congress on behalf of the specialty. In 2002 he received the John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award, the College's highest honor. In 1990 he received the James D. Mills Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Medicine Award.

Dr. Bishop has two daughters, Amy and Amanda, and a granddaughter, Emma. He enjoys golf, river rafting, and fishing, and he and his wife, Vonora, enjoy traveling all over the world. They reside in Bloomington, Indiana.
